Policies, Terms, and Cookies — oh my!

Dear Reader,

I value my own privacy, and I believe in The Golden Rule.  That means I won't do anything with your private information that I wouldn't want done with my own.  It's that simple.

That's my personal privacy policy, but the law requires me to have an official Policy, so you can find that down below.

                         Yours,
                         Melynda

The Official Terms of Service and Policies of this Site

If you continue to use this site, you're consenting to these Terms and Policies.

You must be an adult to use this site.  If you're not an adult, you may not use this site.

I gather information about my visitors.  For instance, when you subscribe to my newsletter, sign up for a free book, or respond to one of my blog posts, I gather your email address and, sometimes, your name.  By giving me this information, you consent to allow me to use it. For instance, if you sign up for my newsletter, you give me your email address, and I'll use that email address to send you my newsletters.

I will never sell or give any of your private information to anyone except to comply with the law or to utilize services that help me communicate with and serve my visitors, like Mailchimp, the US Postal Service, Stripe, or BookFunnel.

This site uses cookies, small text files that are sent to and stored on you computer.  In general, cookies are used to remember preferences, store information for things like shopping carts, and provide anonymized tracking data to third party applications like Google Analytics. If you'd like more information about how Google Analytics uses the information it gathers, go here . If you'd like to opt out of Google Analytics' information gathering, just go here.  And, while I don't currently use any other tracking services, here's a helpful place you can go to opt-out of some other advertising tracking services.  I use Google Analytics' Demographics and Interest Reports to help me understand my visitors, but Analytics doesn't tell me any personally identifying information about you.  The idea is to make your browsing experience better.  However, you may prefer to disable cookies on this site and on others.  The most effective way to do that is to disable cookies in your browser.  I suggest consulting the "Help" section of your browser or taking a look at the About Cookies website which offers guidance for all modern browsers.

If you'd like me to erase all of the personally-identifying information I keep about you can write to me about that by going here.

Finally, by using this site, you're giving me permission to use and publish any information you send to me (such as blog posts or emails), and you agree not to transmit any illegal, harmful, obscene, spammy, or offensive materials; that I don't necessarily monitor all of the comments in my blog; and that I have the right to block, edit, and omit comments.

That's about it.
